This Bucktown residence addresses the common challenge of creating intimacy within a spacious, open-concept living area. By carefully considering the owners' lifestyle and program, we implemented a design solution that balances scale and coziness. The living room, envisioned as a swanky listening lounge, was transformed into a multi-functional space suitable for both active family life and intimate evenings spent enjoying vinyl records.

A key feature is the plush orange velvet sectional that wraps around the space, creating a cozy and inviting gathering spot. A curved plastered wall adds textural interest, complementing the speckled terrazzo floor. The design incorporates classic mid-century modern furnishings in fresh new palettes, alongside custom millwork elements such as a warm walnut screen wall concealing storage and a dry bar featuring a striking viola marble backsplash.
